Gill Kirk

Gill has immersed herself into developing her artistic practice over the last few years and is nowworking in a variety of mediums. Principally these are collograph send screen printed pieces, and machine embroidery. She is happily a “jack of all trades” and chooses to reflect this in her diverse exhibition pieces. Gill lives in Pateley Bridge where she works as an outdoor education tutor at Bewerley Park, the local authority centre. She is out and about in the dale everyday and her love for the landscape, is she says”in her bones”. From the high windswept moorlands to the tracks through the fields and her own inspirational garden she is in her element. Gill informs her work with photography and sketches; and also lately with a fascination for digital art.She is enjoying experimenting with manipulation and overlaying of images derived from photographs and artwork. Gill is excited by strong colour, patterns and mark making through different techniques. She is also currently exploring mixing print with stitch.

Gill is exhibiting at Fountains Abbey in the Hall from 1-15th August with “The Small Group”, showing the work of textile artists largely based in Harrogate. she will also be returning to The Lavender tea rooms mid August as part of The 2015 Nidd Art Trail.
